A CED állásfoglalása a hidrogénperoxid tartalmú fogfehérítú készítmények forgalmazásáról és használatáról
A CED támogatja az EU Kozmetikumok használatáról szóló direktíváit, miszerint a >0.1%-6.0% hidrogénperixid koncentrációig, ill. ilyen koncentráció tartományban a készítményből felszabaduló H2O2 koncentrációig a fogfehérítő készítmények csak fogorvosoknak adható el és a fogorvos előzetes vizsgálata után, fogorvosi utasítás szerint alkalmazhatók. Az első alkalmazása után a páciens otthon alkalmazhatja. 6%-nál nagyobb H2O2 koncentrációjú készítmények csak fogorvosi rendelőben, megfelelő biztonsági előírások mellett alkalmazhatók a betegek érdekében. Szabad forgalomban a páciensek egészségének védelme érdekében csak a <0.1%-nál kisebb H2O2 koncentrációt tartalmazó készítmények, többnyire fogkrémek forgalmazhatók.

EU policy background:
The Commission's draft directive proposal to adapt to technical progress the Council Directive 76/768/EEC (Cosmetics Directive) in order to implement the opinion of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (currently replaced by the SCCS), of 18 December 2007 on hydrogen peroxide, in its free form or when released, in oral hygiene products and tooth whitening products has the strong support of the CED, particularly the following provisions:
i) Concentrations of >0.1% - ≤ 6% of hydrogen peroxide present or released should only be sold to dental practitioners and for each cycle of use, the first use to be only carried out by dental practitioners or under their direct supervision if an equivalent level of safety is ensured;
ii) Concentrations of >6 % of hydrogen peroxide present or released should only be sold to dental practitioners and only used by dental practitioners or under their direct supervision if an equivalent level of safety is ensured.
The CED is of the opinion that only TWPs with up to 0.1% of H2O2 should be available on the market for reasons of patient safety.
